Pour être bien clair, il est impossible de ne pas désirer Phoenix Wright 2 si tant est que l'on a dégusté le premier, puisque tout le talent est resté intact. La question de savoir lequel des deux est supérieur demeure également secondaire. Phoenix Wright était une excellente surprise, Phoenix Wright Ace Attorney Justice For All est une excellente suite. Et puisque le schéma de jeu est resté parfaitement identique ou presque alors qu'ajouter qui n'a pas déjà été dit lors du test du premier Phoenix Wright ? Conservant la dichotomie d'une série comme New-York Police Judiciaire, le jeu de Capcom alterne deux phases l'enquête, c'est-à-dire la récolte de pièces à convictions, la rencontre avec les personnages clés, puis le procès dans lequel votre crédibilité est comptée. Dans Phoenix Wright, on parlera en effet plus volontiers d'une jauge de crédibilité que d'énergie vitale. Lorsque l'avocat de la défense commet trop d'erreurs et présente des pièces à convictions hors-sujet ou ne plaidant pas en sa faveur, c'est le "Game Over". Voici pour les notions de base. Au même titre que l'année dernière avec le premier opus, se séparer de Phoenix Wright 2 une fois le générique de fin consommé est une véritable déchirure sentimentale. Le bilan de cette suite est parfaitement conforme à celui du premier opus pour tout ce qui concerne la qualité d'écriture, des protagonistes, et le déroulement. Mais globalement, le niveau de la bande son reste excellent et participe à sa façon à la percussion et au délice des retournements de situation. Les répliques des personnages sont dotées de tellement de génie et de vie qu’en les lisant on se projette instantanément leur voix, leur façon de parler, ou encore leur tics vocaux dans notre esprit. Littéralement un pur tour de force narratif. Des personnages colorés au comportement parfois exagéré voire excessif, mais toujours dans le bon sens du terme. Elle est précisément ici la coupable de notre tristesse une fois le jeu achevé les personnages incroyablement attachants ! Un attachement naïf, d’autant plus surprenant que le gameplay est plus que minimaliste, aussi bien votre choix se porte sur l’écran tactile ou sur les boutons. Cette empathie subtile est provoquée par l’attention soutenue que l’on doit porter à ce qui se déroule et à ce qui se dit sous nos yeux, enquêteur oblige. Nous sommes tous plus ou moins fascinés par le suspense d’une bonne enquête policière. Résoudre et dénouer un crime lorsque celui-ci est machiavéliquement échafaudé relève d’un fantasme classique du commun des mortels. Dans le cadre d’une sorte de glorification personnelle, on recherche à tester son sens de la déduction, à se prouver que l’on est capable de comprendre le cheminement de pensée et d’action d’un criminel. Votre lot sera aussi bien de rentrer en contact humainement que d’observer les lieux afin de démêler une intrigue avec pour seule arme votre perspicacité. Objection, tout ça... Une fois confortablement installé devant votre pupitre d'avocat, la contradiction devient la base de votre fonction. Et votre spécialité, c’est au choix de taper sur le pupitre, de présenter un document accablant avec des petits yeux narquois, ou de montrer votre éloquence d’un doigt accusateur. Avocat, ça doit trop être la classe ! Sachez que vous disposez obligatoirement d’un certain nombre de preuves dans votre inventaire, puisque le tribunal ne commencera pas sans que vous n'ayez préalablement déniché absolument tous les éléments nécessaires, donc pas de panique, tout ce dont vous avez besoin se trouve à portée de main. Reste alors à déterminer quelle pièce utiliser et surtout à quel moment, pour démontrer que telle partie du témoignage est contradictoire, et donc que le témoin ment, ou au mieux se trompe. Et ainsi de suite, jusqu’à confondre publiquement le fourbe au point de le faire suer jusqu’à ce qu’il n’ait plus une goutte d’eau dans son corps de pêcheur. Lorsque Phoenix brandit avec fierté et dépose sur le pupitre sa grosse preuve irréfutable, l’effet sur la partie adverse équivaut à un Shô Ryu Ken bien placé, avec moult effets sonores et mimiques déconvenues. Bref, un vrai travail scénique, pour un festival de retournements de situation, mené par le doigt de la justice de Wright. Dans ce Phoenix Wright 2, la dernière affaire est inoubliable, notamment parce qu'elle illustre une question que tout le monde s'est déjà posé au sujet de la profession d'avocat de la défense, et met Phoenix, tout autant que le joueur, face à un terrible dilemme sans véritable réponse. A quel moment se manifeste l’aspect ludique, avec ses règles et ses conditions à respecter sous peine d’être pénalisé ? En fait, établir une contradiction qui n’a pas lieu d’être fera baisser la fameuse jauge de crédibilité face au juge, et une fois vide, c’est la condamnation de votre client et donc le Game Over. La sauvegarde permanente permet cependant de ne pas se ronger les ongles et surtout d’éviter de revivre l’intégralité du plaidoyer en cas de défaite. Un besoin de sauvegarder un peu trop permanent, peut être, et qui sous entend aussi de nombreux reboot de Nintendo DS et donc un certain cassage de rythme, surtout si vous vous retrouvez acculé avec la jauge au plus bas. Dans le cas du dernier dossier, il est vraiment ardu de s'y retrouver, et l'instinct jouera beaucoup dans cet épisode. En revanche, les phases d'enquêtes m'ont paru moins lourdes qu'auparavant, peut être grâce à l'apparition des verrous psychés, autrement dit de l'unique nouveauté de cette cartouche. Pour matérialiser la protection intellectuelle d'un personnage qui ne veut pas vous révéler le fond de sa pensée et de son âme, des verrous se matérialisent de temps en temps pour enchaîner l'individu dans son mutisme à propos d'un sujet précis. Il s'agit donc de faire exploser ces verrous en argumentant à l'aide des preuves adéquates. Autrement dit, les phases d'enquête sont désormais saupoudrées de ce qui fait le sel des phases de tribunal. Le fouet de Franziska Dans ce second épisode, les fans auront la joie de redécouvrir des personnalités de la première cartouche, et de se régaler de l'apparition dans le banc du procureur de Franziska Von Karma, fille de Manfred Von Karma, le procureur sans scrupule battu à la fin du premier opus. Personnage absolument formidable, Franziska du haut de ses 18 ans, est l'archétype de son mentor de père, à la recherche d'une logique de la perfection illusoire et absolue. Hautaine, prétentieuse, orgueilleuse, agressive, mauvaise perdante et roublarde, Franziska est délicieuse à affronter. Son meilleur atout ? Un fouet dont elle ne se sépare jamais, aussi bien pour rappeler à l'ordre la police que la défense ou le juge lui même. C'est ça Phoenix Wright ! Malgré l'absence d'un cinquième dossier inédit comme dans le précédent opus, il faut signaler que la durée de vie semble identique, sans doute à cause de ce fameux quatrième procès qui restera dans les mémoires pour sa complexité.
